چکیده
Abstract This work analytically calculates mixed-mode I/II stress intensity factors for an inclined central frictional crack in a Brazilian disc partially compressed with uniform pressure. Wide-range controlling parameters are invoked. The analyzed include the pressure angle, relative length, inclination, and friction coefficient between two surfaces. For discs, there exists critical angle at which any will experience pure II loading. is not affected by decreases as length increases. Estimation of Stress Intensity Factors from Near Crack Tip Field
All current experimental methods for determination of stress intensity factors are based on the assumption that the state of stress near the crack tip is plane stress. Therefore, these methods rely on strain and displacement measurements made outside the near crack tip region affected by the three-dimensional effects or by process zone. In this paper, we develop and validate an experimental pro...

present work shows the numerical determination of fatigue crack opening and closure stress intensity factors of a C(T) specimen under variable amplitude loading using a finite element method. A half compact tension C(T) specimen, assuming plane stress constraint was used by finite element method covering the effects in two-dimensional (2D) small scale yielding models of fatigue crack growth und...

متن کاملPLASTIC INTENSITY FACTORS FOR CRACKED PLATESt
An elastic-plastic analysis is performed for two problems relevant to fracture mechanics: a semi infinite body with an edge crack in a far out-of-plane shearing field and an infinite plate under plane stress conditions containing a finite line crack in a remote tensile field. Amplitudes of the dominant singularity in the plastic region at the crack tip, the plastic stress and strain intensity ...
متن کاملJustification and Imfroveme~ of Kienzler and Herrma~s Estimate of Stress Intensity Factors of Cracked Beam
Kienzler and Hernnan recently showed that good and remarkably simple approximations of the stress intensity factors of cracks in beams can be obtained by bending theory estimations of the strain energy release as the crack is widened into a band of finite width. Their method has been based on equating this energy release to the energy release rate due to crack length extension, which has been p...
